Cycle Share: Robert Morgan Shares His Love of Cycling and How it Helped Him Get Fit
In my continuing series, “Cycle Share”, I always enjoy featuring members of our local cycling community who have a story to share about how they got into cycling, and how much it’s helped them in their lives.
Meet Robert Morgan. Robert and I have bicycled in the past, but I had no idea just how important cycling was in Robert’s overall health and wellness.
READ ROBERT’S STORY BELOW
In 2009 I was 225 lb. I started cycling in 2013 and lost 65 lbs. I went from a 38 to a 31 waist. I’ve logged over 9000 miles on a hybrid plus met a lot of cool people and saw great sights along the way. I’ll hit my 10,000 miles in a few months. I long for a nice road bike.
(Note from Lisa: WHOA! That’s a lot of miles on a hybrid… great job!!)
Q&A WITH ROBERT:
I also asked Robert a few questions about cycling in Vegas and just cycling in general. Thank you Robert for sharing!!
Lisa: What is your favorite route in Vegas to ride?
Robert: Red Rock Canyon Loop
Lisa: What is your most dreaded hill / challenging climb in Vegas?
Robert: Route back from Willow Beach (Note from Lisa: I hear you on that one!!!!)
Lisa: What are your goals for cycling in 2017?
Robert: My goals for 2017 are to ride 3000 miles.
Lisa: What would your older self say to your younger self, now knowing what cycling has done for your morale and overall health? (Basically advice you would give about cycling and living healthy).
Robert: If I could go back in time I would tell my younger self younger self to stop eating sweets and start cycling now!
Robert, thank you so much for sharing your story… and CONGRATULATIONS on your loss of weight and healthy living through cycling! Anyone that can ride that many miles, and climb the Red Rock Loop on a hybrid has my respect for sure!! 😉 I wish you the best of success meeting your cycling goals for 2017.
